Fernan “Tortuga” Origel grew up skating in the south-side Mexico City neighborhood of Churubusco. He got the travel bug around the time he turned 19 and has been splitting his time living between Mexico City, Southern California and Barcelona for different parts of the last 7 years.
He has gotten to be a part of some of the most influential eras of some of the most important places in skateboarding in the last 10 years.
From living on Fabrizio Santo’s couch in Orange County, to touring around Europe with Jart Skatebords, Fernan has been on some legendary sessions and skated his way around the world.

Last month we spent an entire day with Mario Saenz, one of Mexico’s biggest skateboarders. 24-year-old Mario has been going to the States to skate ever since he was 17 and he runs two skate shops in Mexico City – no wonder he is popular in the scene! Recently he also started his own shoe company, RID Shoes.

But it is also one of the biggest cities in the world and there are countless buildings and endless streets and spots.

ALONSO “CHANGO” LEAL

Alonso Leal goes by the name of Chango, which is spanish for Monkey. His mom gave him that nick name and you can actually call her and ask for “the monkey”. He was born in Mexicos capital, grew up in Menterrey and then came back to the big city.
